Now that you've had practice creating a matter in Google Vault, it can be helpful to next learn how to search and export Vault data for analysis.
In this exercise, you’ll explore the search options available in Vault and export some results.
Step 1
If you’re not already signed in, sign in to your domain as the Administrator at admin.google.com.
Step 2
Open a new browser tab, and navigate to vault.google.com. This will open Google Vault.
Step 3
Click the Matters card.
Step 4
Hover over, and click on the Project X row to open it.
Step 5
Click on the Search tab, then choose the Gmail service.
Step 6
Explore the search options available. Note that, in addition to performing your search, you can get a count of expected results before you search (as searches can take some time), and you can also export directly from this search page.
Step 7
Run any search you like, just make sure it produces some results.
Step 8
From the search results, click Export. You must give the export a name and you can choose the output format for later analysis. Alternatively, you also have the option to select the Save tab and save this query to run later.
Exports are only available for 15 days, so be sure to download them as soon as they become available.
You can delete the export once you have downloaded it or allow it to be purged automatically.
You can explore more about Google Vault in the Google Workspace Admin Help Center.
